Janesville – Howard C. Hartz, age 75, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, unexpectedly. Howard was born April 28, 1939 in Elgin, ILthe son of the late Louis and Edna (Horn) Hartz . After graduating from Elkhorn High School in 1957, he married Ruth Ann Burns on June 4, 1960. They lived in the Elkhorn and Johnstown area before moving to Janesville in 1996. Growing up on the family farm, Howard was a farmer at heart throughout his life, working for over 40 years part-time for the Weberpal Farms of Johnstown. Besides working on the farm, he was employed by A.O. Smith Harvestore of Elkhorn for 27 years, and then worked at General Motors in Janesville for 11 years until his retirement in 1997.
Howard is survived by his wife Ruth; two sons, Michael of Little Chute, and Jeffrey of Janesville; his daughter, Audrey Kemp of Weston; his sister, Linda (Wayne) Muchow of DePere; his sister-in-law, Shirley Hartz of Elkhorn; many nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceeded in death by his parents and his brother, William.
He lived a simple life and will be remembered by all for his big heart and generosity. Henke-Clarson Funeral Home of Janesville will be handling the cremation arrangements. A small, private service will be held later.  ​
